General Information:

With chromium-manganese content possessed good machinability, mechanical wear resistance and edge holding quality. Vanadium-Wolfram content reduces high working temperature wear and retention of temper temperature.

Heat treatment                                                                                                                        

Hardening:

-   Temperature: 780-830°C(Slow heating and pre-heat at 350°Cand 650°C).

-   Duration: 30 mins per 25mm thick.

Quenching:

-   Medium: warn oil, salt bath.

Double Tempering

-          Temperature (2 hrs minimum) 250°C, better toughness.(58-59HRC).

-   Temperature (2 hrs minimum) 200°C, higher hardness. (60-61HRC).

Properties:

General purpose oil hardening medium alloyed cold work tool steel with minimum size change, high impact strength and hardenability, good edge holding, abrasion resistance and machinability properties, dimensionally stable during heat treatment, high surface hardness and sufficent toughness after hardening and tempering.

Applications:

Cutting, blanking, punching and stamping tools and dies up to 6 mm sheet thickness, thread cutting tools, chasers, cold forming tools, arbors, drill bushings, collets, drawing punches, machine knives for the wood, paper and metal working industries, woodworking tools, cold trimming dies, shaping wheels, measuring tools and gauges, milling cutters, drills, reamers, taps, broaches, calipers, profile rollers, coining tools, industrial blades, moulds for the plastics industry, knurling tools, medium run blanking dies, cold working manrdrels, master engraving rolls and taps, guide rails, plug gages.

 

Heat Treatment :

 

Annealing : 710 - 750 °C

Hardness after annealing : Max. 220 HB

Stress relieving : Approx. 650 °C

Hot forming : 1050 - 850 °C

Hardening : 780 - 820 °C

Quenching media : Oil, Salt bath ( 200 - 250 °C )

Hardness after quenching : 63 - 65 HRC
